I'm short, too, 5'. I *always* wear seatbelts. You may be a careful driver, but there are those who are not, not to mention you could hit something on the road; your tire could blow out, etc.. It's much safer to wear one despite the discomfort. Seriously. Yes, there are very old people who have never worn seatbelts and lived. They were lucky.
