Totally reminds me of the movie Overboard with Goldie Hawn. She keeps calling the one boy "Roy" because she can't remember his name.

Anyone?

I love Royal. Roy is ok and I suspect it will grow on people.

I always think of Leroy when I hear the name Roy. Or a dog. I knew several mutts named Roy when I was a kid.

Don't like (Rolls) Royce or Royal at all.

+1.

Roy is also the Anglicized version of the Hebrew Ro'i, which means "my shepherd."

How? It's one syllable.

Yeah, I don't know that I've met a Roy irl. I like it though. A little outside the box without being made up or pretentious. Approved

Royce is my fil's name - not a fan of it for some reason, even though I do like him.

My spouse has a friend named Roy. Guy in his 40s. Nice person, but the only Roy I've ever met in real life who's not elderly....so that could be a good or bad thing, depending on what OP is going for.

I thought that was a good thing? Otherwise every one of us would all be naming our babies Noah and Liam.

I loved Roy Rogers hamburgers and fixins bar pickles as a kid and named my toy horse Trigger, but I'd advise Roy as a middle name rather than first.
