Agree that it isn't relevant, but $1500/mo for infant care is very low cost. Objectively, yes that is a lot of money to pay per month for any service. But for infant care in this area? Especially closer in to DC where she is looking? That is super low.

Not really. I pay 1000 at an excellent in-home daycare in Silver Spring--though not close in SS. Unfortunately there are not any openings for infants and there won't be until current kids start turning 2 in October.

1500-2000/month, broadly speaking, is extremely expensive. The nationwide average, according to google, is about 900/month. It's difficult enough to get by in DC with such an outrageous cost of living - no need to make it worse by shaming people who don't want to dump money into a daycare just because of its zip code. Don't listen to them, OP. (And if you do find that dirt cheap daycare you're looking for,let us know)

We had good luck finding reasonably priced care through Monday Morning Moms - they act as a broker for in-home daycare providers in Montgomery County. However, you'd be fairly lucky to find one in Bethesda or Chevy Chase, as the economics of in-home daycare often mean they are in more affordable neighborhoods.
