They are not "investing" in renovations (if approved by DCRA) any more than they "invested" in the renovation of their current location in the building. They are (planning to) paying rent to ITS. ITS owns the building. I'm sorry it's unclear to you, but it's not that difficult to understand. There are very few suitable buildings available and it's very difficult to get them in an appropriate time frame, so, if after one more year at their current location they have a great building lined up that will be a long-term home for the school in which they can grow, then they will take it. If not, they have the flexibility to stay there for 2 years (assuming the permits are granted and the neighborhood doesn't skewer the plans).

This. Way back in the day my older child attended LAMB (now in high school) from PK3-5th. Over his 8 years the school occupied 5 different locations - Our Redeemer Church, Missouri Avenue, Bunker Hill Elementary, Imagine Hope, Missouri Avenue. Each of the locations required them to "invest" in renovations or enhancements to make the temporary locations work for the duration of their lease.

It sucked and was anxiety producing -- and they actually had a 'permanent' space at Missouri Avenue the entire time.

Nothing is certain until the ink is dry on the lease and all is approved. Remember SS jumped the gun before. Who knows what will really happen with that building.

SS is going there. I'd love that space, but omgoodness, I don't want SS to have their space stolen a second time. That school needs a break!

Shining Stars has a history of making announcements before they have got a confirmed lease. They didn't have their space "stolen" they were incompetent. Lee has spent months negotiating with Howard. Perhaps those negotiations have made progress.

plus they'd never want to plan a middle school with us. Perhaps we could share the space for a year or two?

I thought the Langdon area was Woodridge. Is the dc kitchen area officially Woodridge? I don't see anything on everts street that would work but warehouses, Langdon school, and senior citizens home.

Does Langdon have any extra space? I thought that school was on an upswing and growing. Would be great to share with a public Montessori.

Okay, you're right there, but I live 2 blocks away and would have called it woodridge, so maybe there are more people with the same interpretation of neighborhoods??? I just don't hear people talking about the Langdon neighborhood, and woodridge more so.

Yes, Langdon is definitely in Woodridge.

If you look at the boundaries of Woodridge on google maps, Langdon and Evarts street are not part of it.

Evart's isn't in Woodridge at all according to those definitions, so the school must be using a broader definition than Google.
