I wish I had moved to DE sooner...

For my own peace of mind, I would have asked "what if" at the outset. I went stratight to IVF (Kiaser with SG) due to removal of hydrosalpinges. My SG doctor thought it I had very good chances of getting pregnant on the first round of IVF. (No male factor, and I was 35).

Looking back, I wish I would have asked what attempt #2 would look like if the first didn't take. Specifically, timelines (eg., how long to wait before starting, would anything in the protocol be changed), and more specific details other than "we'll try again." Doing so would have saved me some worry after learning that the first attempt didn't work.

(The second try did work for us.)

OP, I would guess that SG will want you to go straight into IVF due to your age, so I wouldn't worry about feeling pressured to try IUI first. SG is a well oiled machine with a lot of patients, many of whom have been doing this for many months. I've found that the docs/nurses/ultrasound people/financial staff talk to you using terms and topics that a 'newbie' wouldn't necessarily understand. I wish I had asked them to clarify more at the time, just for my own understanding and ability to advocate for myself.
They will likely give you stats/odds that sound pretty dismal--don't let that surprise you or get you down. Yes, the reality is that it can be a hard road and there's no guarantee of the desired outcome. But for so many people, there is success. Good luck!

NP. May I ask what protocol did u had at GW? We are at GW as well and planning to start in April. Not sure we will do PGS.
