There is also a DCPS Ombudsman's Office - not always the fastest response or best resource - but they may be able to help. Also, the Chancellor of schools appoints the board, I believe - so you could contact that office or the Superintendent of schools - I would just keep bugging people until someone helps or directs you to find the answer(s) you need. Public schools - charter or not - are a lot of bureaucracy, you have to be persistent.

The earlier poster wrote that s/he "work with PCSB staff", not for PCSB. So probably wouldn't know anything about your complaint.

My experience working with government entities is that a phone call or email followup can often shake a file loose off someone's desk and get it moving.

I work with the DCPCSB (the staff) and I can tell you they work very hard. They take calls, texts and emails from me (and others) on weekends, early morning and pretty much all hours.

They show up for school events in the early mornings, late in the evenings and work hard for the children of this city (and many of them have kids of their own).

If you want to know what they do - give them a call, go see them, attend a charter board meeting and meet some of the staff. I'm sure they would be happy to engage with you and share more about their jobs and their role.

What did you want people to say, that charter board employees do nothing all day except scheme at how to steal students from DCPS or how to kick out low performing students to DCPS? That sounds like what the board does. Supposedly there's oversight in there, but I don't know if it's effective/people use it/whatever.

Yup. And my high SES family and I are very much enjoying the high SES families with whom we hang at our HRCS. But by all means keep up your illogical whining and complaining because any day now the US congress is going to unwind teh charter schools in DC. Yep, that's going to happen.

OP, can you be any more specific about your complaint and what you would like to see happen? I have not complained to the charter board, but I would imagine that they have very little leverage in some areas. If you have a problem with your child's teacher, for example, there's probably not much that the charter board can do other than refer you to the school or suggest a lawyer. If they are recommending that you leave the school, it sounds like they do not believe there is any way to reconcile the complaint. I am curious what it was. You can say without mentioning the school if that is important.
