UMD is top notch journalism , education and business. Has the United States National Archives, the Phillips collection and the National Center for Foreign Language (homeland security) on campus
The Phillips Collection is in DC (and their website doesn't say anything about a satellite gallery at UMD). National Archives does have a research facility in College Park, but it's a couple miles from the UMD campus.
The national archives is right next to the golf course on UMD property. The Phillips is coming to route 1 where the varsity grill was in a university partnership.

it isn't the Maryland of yesteryear. Then when kids use it as a safety school and get rejected the soon find out and end up going to UMBC and say that is where they wanted to go all along.

Looking at the Naviance from my kid's school (MD private, not in the DC metro), the average accept was a 3.5 and 1910 SAT.
But it looks pretty much like anyone with a 3.3 and 1800 got in.

No separate app is required. Just make sure your DD applies by Nov 1 priority app due date.
Good to know! It seems like a long time away but it will be here before we know it so she's trying to learn as much as possible now. Thank you!

My daughter went to UMD did not get into scholars, she is a teacher in her first year. She went the Greek route and loved it. My son goes now and is a public relations major just loves in the dorms with friends he has made also didn't qualify for scholars , but they both had friends in the program who love it.

My niece from PA was also just admitted to the same program. 3.9 GPA (uw) but a lower SAT 2180 I think. Also waiting to hear from other colleges. I'm thinking she probably won't go because she needs FA and she says it appears that UMCP does offer much (or enough).
