Those stats seem way out of date.

Just doing the math that would result in a freshman class 50% higher than it actually is. I know coaches were worried about their recruits getting accepted. It is extremely competitive now - can't speak to 20 years ago.

This info seems very dated. Unless you have numbers to back it up.

Very true. So many people think they know a lot about St. Johns yet it has changed dramatically in the past 5-10-15 years. DH is an alum and barely recognized it now that our kids are looking at high schools.

Do not count on transfer. It was very difficult to get DC in on transfer due to over enrollment in each grade

I have 2 kids at SJC, boy and girl. With those scores I think it's a likely admit. However competition has been fierce last couple years with over 1100+ apps for 300 spots.

GL and be ready for tons of homework..lol

A good portion of the applications are considered a safety school. Many of the 1K applications are students wanting to go to other schools, but also apply to SJC in case they are not accepted at their first choice.

Although it is true that Freshman Football is no cut, the coaches give most if not all the playing time to the players that have been identified as most likely to go on to varsity. So, anyone can suit up and practice, but they will play the same kids all game long when it comes to game time.

That's just the facts. I have a DC at SJC and we love the school, but be aware that the football, basketball, and baseball are extremely competitive at SJC. Lacrosse, not so much.

I should add that between the millions Kevin Plank is pouring into the school and the new facilities and their football players headed to D1 schools the school won't be the same in a few short years. Frankly, get in now while you can.

PP is correct-- freshman football is no cut. Lacrosse is a bit different since the coach does recruit and it is smaller but really any kid who has played lacrosse before can play at SJC as a freshman.

There are a ton of kids who apply-- but they also apply to a number of other school. My child is there now, came from public and had much lower scores. We are Carholic though-- not sure if that helped. He had excellent recommendations and pretty good middle school grades, nothing spectacular. But something about him made them admit him and he couldn't be happier. It is a perfect fit for him which is so important for high schoolers.

Good luck!
