Don't go

OP Here - went to the OB yesterday and he advised that I shouldn't go. I saw that Curacao just reported its first local infection, so I'm sure it will be on the CDC list soon. It looks like my airline will offer a refund with a doctor's note. This just seems like one of those things we'll look back on and say was an overreaction (I try to remind myself that pregnant woman are actually living there, and the majority of them will be fine). At the same time, this is a non-essential trip, and it's not worth the tiny risk or the worry.

On a sidenote, a couple years ago I was set to go to Mexico for a destination wedding in February. Had to cancel for a funeral. I f-ing hate destination weddings!

I wouldn't go, and am honestly appalled at the people that are even considering this! The airlines are offering full refunds. Get your money back, and send your regrets.

Not worth the risk. I expect this Zika thing is going to explode in the coming months.

The chance of something happening to you are extremely small.

But there is a significant chance that you will feel worried throughout the end of your pregnancy. It might be better to avoid that.

I would cancel. The stakes are way too high. It's not on the CDC's list currently, but it's an epidemic in that region of the world. I would expect that there is some lag in reporting, and hence some lag in the warnings. A lot of people who get zika don't get very sick, so I'm sure it's under-reported.

If this were a moderate risk for something that's not so bad, I'd do it. However, the outcomes with zika and pregnancy can be horrible and life-changing. That's what would keep me home or would make me choose a destination not remotely near the current hotspots.
