trader joe's is the Aldi for people with money and for people who cook using trader joe's food then claim they made it themselves.

I have read that milk has ' X amount of hours below 40 degrees C' before it spoils.
Sounds like someone isn't storing it at the right temp consistently

Is is all too salty for us. I get why people like it because it's one step above the basic grocery store (fewer crappy ingredients ) but it's way over salted.
And they have had plenty of mass recalls too

FYI shelf stable / ultra pasteurized milk doesn't last any longer than regular milk once it's been opened. (And it's no longer shelf stable.) I don't have any health objections to it but I think it tastes funny compared to regular milk, which is why I like TJS--they are the only organic milk that is NOT ultra pasteurized.

I'v never had a problem with it going bad in <1 week. Longer than that and I usually toss milk anyway.

Produce is hit or miss. I've always had really good luck with their dairy, but we go through milk quickly. Bread is fine too, I always keep bread in the fridge though.

You save loads of money on sauces and meat at TJs. It's WAY cheaper there than at Giant or Safeway. A marinade will cost you $3-6 at a regular grocery will be $1.50 at TJ's.

But actually it's better if the rest of you stay away. More for me!

We shop a lot at Trader Joe's, and the milk ALWAYS is bad within a week. Some of the produce goes bad quickly too, like cut squash. My fault for wanting convenience!

Like most of their stuff, but ugh!

I have only shopped at TJ a handful of times, and two of those times found mold upon opening the package at home; yogurt and cheese. I have heard complaints from many people IRL of similar experiences.

I don't think the milk at TJ's is ultra pasteurized. Ultra pasteurized milk is shelf stable and has very little taste, where as milk that is just pasteurized has more of a taste, will will go bad faster.

Weird, this thread is timely. I usually buy my milk at Safeway but bought at TJ's this weekend and my 7-year-old won't drink it. Says it tastes funny. It only smells a little bit off to me but I had to go buy more milk at Safeway. Won't buy at TJ's again!

Actually TJs milk lasts a week longer than my Giant milk bought on the same day. So we always buy TJs. We use TJs Reston though, so maybe your stores are different.

My organic milk from giant was bad this morning with 1/4 left and a date of March 11th.
I also bought 2 packages of rotten organic chicken there a few weeks ago.

Careful with their fruit too. I used to buy their bags of oranges and then had two times when I noticed that half of them had mold or rot on them the day I purchased them. I love their packaged stuff but don't use them much for produce anymore.
