I actually know a surprising number since prior to knowing a lot of kids I thought of it is more of an old-school name. Most of the ones I know are in the 6 to 8 age range.

I'm not this poster, but "distinctive" might not be the right word. I think not having to be one-of-many is the goal of a lot of posters - to avoid being known by a firstname lasteinitial/lastname all the time.

I find this notion that being "distinctive" is somehow a virtue in name selection to be odd.

I know a 6 mo Audrey.

My husband has a super uncommon name, I have an unusual name for a given name (it is most often a nickname). It can be annoying to have a super unusual name too. NO ONE in this country gets my husband's name!

We like that most are familiar with the name so spelling and pronunciation aren't an issue, but so far it's also been a bit distinctive. I really wanted to use Audrey and my DH nixed it. I've heard it a decent amount since then. Any school or camp my kids have ever been in, there is always at least one. I know two personally in my friend group.

It's a great name. If you like it, who cares.

So strange, because I know a TON! Including 3 in our family tree-2 on my husband's side (both Audrey Elizabeths, both live in tx) and one on my side (lives in pa).

Oddly, I think all my friends with Audrey's are NOT in the DC area-nc, de, nj?

But in my circle, it is right up there with Isabelle and Sophia.

I'm a teacher. I have never had an Audrey but I have had several Audras and one Audrine.
