It may or may not be too late. The graph below shows that an IVF cycle at your age has an expected 10% chance of being successful. Of course if you use donor eggs the odds are closer to those for the age of the donor.
Your numbers are good, but what they mean is that you probably will be able to produce a decent amount of eggs per IVF cycle. However, these numbers say nothing about the quality of the eggs. Egg quality is most closely correlated to the age of the woman. So many of the egg you produce will not develop into viable embryos. I agree with the PP who said to use PGD if you do IVF with your own eggs.
So, yes, if you have the financial resources and the determination, make an appointment with a fertility clinic asap.

OP-if you haven't already, do check the infertility/ART section. there are a lot of women there with AMH's less than 1 who have had luck with NC-IVF or Donor egg. There is a lot of good info there on ivf/art options.

OP here - thank you all for the encouraging comments and stories. Indeed, we are leaning toward starting IVF (recommended by the RE) in the next month. FYI, AMH 1.59, FSH 8 at age 42. I didn't think at the time to write it all down, but the RE commented something to the effect that that my levels were no better, no worse than I could expect at my age.

I did this too and IVF didn't help (2 rounds so far), not only BFNs but also nothing to freeze. IVF is not a magic potion. And 2 months is really nothing. I would prepare for IVF but try really hard for another 3-4 months. Also, what are average numbers for 42 yo? Is your AMH low and FSH high?

IVF is not a magic potion, but it gives you the best odds. It's not a guarantee by any means. At 42, you can waste a year trying and then do IVF and your odds of IVF working are MUCH lower than they are now.

If you want kids, time for the big guns. IVF is the big guns. If you are ok with the possibility ever increasing of never having children, keep trying on your own until you are ready.

It is indeed a personal choice, I should have mentioned that I am OK with doing DE eventually and have means for it. I also had a natural BFP in between IVFs but it didn't stick. So that's where I am coming from.
