OP, there's great sushi at Sushi Taro, but it's not walking distance from your hotel, it's a short cab ride away. 17th & P.
I personally am not a huge fan of Kaz, I find it a little precious, but others like it a lot. It's a short hike from your hotel, but the hike is around the White House, so it's pretty.
