Ugh. I can't stand hearing Cruz speak. It's not just his nasally voice, he comes across as arrogant, condescending and self-righteous even as he spouts one blatant lie after another. He's the kind of guy who would make Goebbels proud, by repeating the same lies over and over and over ad nauseam until everyone knows them by rote. Every last one of his Senate colleagues can't stand the guy.

I think we all need to revisit the Kennedy-Nixon debates to understand how charisma and looks can win you a spot as president.

I watched almost all of that video. And you shouldn't be dying laughing, you should be afraid that the Democrats, if they nominate Hillary, have found someone who is more likable than Ted Cruz.

It's not an issue of likability. The man is old school bat shit crazy. From returning to the gold standard to global climate change denial, to overturning Obergefell, to eliminating the IRS and instituting a flat tax, to relocating the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, to you name it. He's a very dangerous demagogue. Good thing he won't make it out of the convention.

They tend to pick a VP from a state they need, and they don't need Maryland. It's overwhelmingly democratic.

Tim Kaine speaks spanish fluently, he's from a swing state and has a pretty decent records as a governor. He's certainly got the democratic cred by being DNC chair for awhile. I'm not sure how well he plays across the country. Seems like geographically it would be nice to have someone from the midwest or west. But, as a former gov., he has some valid executive experience that it wouldn't be laughable for him to be 2nd in line. Julian Castro seems like a nice guy.... but probably not enough experience that counts yet... and not enough charisma to overcome that (but I could be wrong on that ... I haven't seen enough of him to be sure).

It might also depend on who the repub. nominee is. If it is someone like Rubio with little experience, a Julian CAstro vp might be o.k. If it nominee is someone like Christie, then Kaine might be a better vp. If the nominee is Trump--- I don't know who Clinton should pick, but it probably should be someone loud and brash... to counter Trump. If it is Cruz, Clinton should try to find someone with connections to religious groups.

Bottom line... her pick has to be a strategic choice that takes into account the strengths and weaknesses of the republican nominee.
