This was my thought, too. He wants you to take over some of the work of visiting with her so that he doesn't have to do all the heavy lifting. He may also want you as a buffer, depending on his relationship with his mother. Why do all of you need to go to the toy store together?? I'm sure your MIL loves the skins time with your son, and I'm sure she also wants some time with her own son without you tagging along. If she doesn't, she should!
