A LOT of high end bags are made in China. Look closely at language. Designed in Italy/Made from Italian leather is different from Made in Italy.

I love my Longchamp that I have had for years because it is so lightweight. Anyone have a suggestion for a better lightweight alternative. Sounds like I shouldn’t buy a new one but I do need something.

Meh, I got mine at Nordstrom and was also unhappy with it. I got a large and it did not work well as a work bag, it did not fit very much either. I am still amazed at those who can make it work and love these bags.

Hi I’ve got a Raseau wallet from Paris La vallee village LC outlet. The quality of the leather is very disappointing. Although its indicated as cow hide but it just feel like a PVC to me, the leather is thin and the leather “patterns” is so uniform.. it doesn’t look genuine leather. Has the quality of LC gone down hill or is it just outlet quality?

It may be a real Longchamp but you have to check its country of origin. I find the ones made in France and Spain are the nicest for stitching and overall hang/feel. They also wear the best.

+1 - I have several, all between 6 and 10 years old and still going strong. I use the medium size for everything. It is a perfect overnight bag and carry on. Waterproof, easy...I'm a huge fan.

OP here. Can't believe that this post is back to life! It turns out that I purchased a real Pliage bag, the quality just wasn't what I expected it to be. I ended up returning it and buying a Kate Spade bag. Twice the price, but much better quality.

As a Frenchwoman, I think of the Longchamp *brand* as solid and staid. What "good families" buy for every day. However the quality of the bags varies wildly since they have cheap Pliage bags and high-end expensive bags. I bought a middle of the road pebbled leather robin's egg blue hobo bag on Ebay which was obviously genuine and has held up extremely well over the years. Actually it still looks new, and I wear it every day.

As for the Pliage collection, there are so many authentic variations and knock-offs it might be riskier to buy used. Some part of the stitching is meant to be seen, so unless it's badly done it's not necessarily a sign of a knock-off.

I've gotten one on eBay and one at Nordstrom. The one on eBay is well made and as far as I can tell authentic (it's the le pilage but a special patterned one).

I bought my Longchamp bag in Paris two years ago at the Longchamp store. The sales person said they are now made in China with the same equipment and high standards. I showed this person my older Longchamp bag to prove that the quality has gone down. The stamp on mine is deeply pressed so you see it on the underside of the flap. I bought one, anyway and now the 4 corners of the bag are coming apart. Nordstrom said they have had many complaints about the corners and will repair them of fifteen dollars.

Mine is also indestructible and I'm quite happy with the quality.

I got mine at nordstrom and it's pretty durable. Maybe stop by and do ancompar?
