I think it really depends on the school...my kids are at a "Big 3" (hate that term) and none of them ever wear those, but I see them all the time at the public school in where I work.


St. Albans kids wear them all the time.


Georgetown Prep see them all the time.

My DS is a 13 yo at Landon (Go Bears!) and Nike Elite socks are still big. A bowtie might be a hit (a number of the boys wear them), an Underarmour hoodie, anything lacrosse-y. Yes to vineyard vines. Something from http://smathersandbranson.com.

my 12 yo son likes colorful athletic socks from nike or underarmour. he also appreciates gifts of $ so he can make his own choices.

You can tell from this thread there are SO many different things that might be seen as cool here but out there and tastes change so much at that age from day to day.

I just give AMC gift cards or iTunes. Much easier.
