Q: Is there any limit on how many cars I can park on my street?

A: The street belongs to all the families on the street. There is not a limit on how many cars you can park on the street.

BUT there are still strategies you can employ. You might consider parking your car in front of their house, for instance, just to make the point.

Do check the registration and if it's out-of-date report it to the cops.

Park your own cars in front of your house, even if that means leaving your driveway open.

Sure they can park anything where on a public street but if the vehicle is not in used for extended time, don't pull a dick move on your neighbor or you will get the same treatment. If your relative is gone for weeks or months, you should be considerate enough to perhaps park it on your driveway or in your garage. I don't think anyone would have a problem if you park your daily driver in front of their house, just don't hog the space for your own selfish reason.

Many cities and counties have municipal regs that govern this to prevent abandoned cars being dumped and lingering. In Alexandria it's 72 hours. We don't call the police if it's 3 days and we know it's a neighbor's car, but we have called on more than one occasion where the car sat for more than a week and we weren't sure who it belonged to or whether the person was ever coming back.

OP buy an old super stretch limo and eave it in front of your house 24/7. It will prevent neighbor from parking there and people will think you're balling like crazy.

My neighbors have their kids park their car in a space between our driveways that fronts our property. It drives me crazy because a friend of hers told me that she tells them to do it because she thinks it is "tacky" to have cars parked in front of a house. There is nothing I can do about it though. I try to make myself feel better by saying that it offers a bit of protection because people will think someone is home.

Are they running a boarding house? There are limits as to how many people can live in a house. I'd start there as a point of negotiation with the main owner/renter that you're speaking with.

No, it's nothing like that. The owner's nephew and his family rent his basement, plus his parents live with him. A lot of relatives visit and come and go. I don't mind them parking there. They keep to themselves, I just really don't want them to leave this car in front of my house for months.

Better call the authorities to be on the safe side.

It is a public street. They can park anywhere. It is annoying. I would not bother to discuss, that's not going anywhere. And what happened to "another" neighbor is unimportant. Only thing you can do it park there quickly when they finally move it. Otherwise, it's sort-of like moving to a cut-thru street - sorry, you moved there. You'd be luckier if your property were configured differently. Oh well.
