Seriously! My DH doesn't go out enough -- I WISH he'd stay at the company holiday party until 10:30 or midnight.

Just found this thread. I've hosted parties like these while the stragglers stay after I (the host) leaves. They are not up to no good. Just having fun talking to opeople and drinking too much. When the bar tenders clean up, I've seen the put out the open bottles with cups and let the stragglers help themselves. OK, fine, I've also been one of them.

Note: this is normal, OP. My previous firm had a holiday party that went from 5-10 and then an unofficial official afterhours party at a bar near the office that went from 10 until last call.

I think the issues are with you not DH. Yikes, that's controlling.

I wonder if his holiday party is anything like the one at my old company. We were all young and mostly single and child-free, and we would drink enormous amounts of alcohol whenever it was paid for by someone else. Someone got the brilliant idea to do car bombs at one happy hour, and after that, they seemed to get ordered at every party. (and yeah, we'd race to see who could finish fastest.)

There were no drunken shenanigans, though - nobody hooking up with anyone who wasn't their spouse. It was just us cutting loose, being stupid and feeling sh*tty the next day.

I miss that company.

Sure schmoozing with the higher ups....being drunk with your higher ups is great for your career. As a 20's some you should treat a holiday party as work, maybe one drink. It's work.
