This is factually incorrect. The math classes at the Blair magnet are unparalleled elsewhere, public or private. And they are no less theory based than math classes at privates, top or otherwise.

My DS was also one of those kids who found the test easy and got into all the programs. He chose RMIIB and had to work very hard to do well. I am sure this is true of the other programs too. They are not a walk in the park.

My reading comprehension is a bit off this morning but if your DS felt the test was pretty easy and wished it were more challenging, why are you wondering if the IB program will be too hard for him? Shouldn't you be wondering if it is too easy?

Could be wrong, but I distinctly remember last year that incoming HS students who got into all programs they applied for didn't know their scores (though I'm sure the testing office would provide them if requested). Either way, score info isn't released until the letters in the spring.

This is odd because we used the test scores to help ds make his decision about which middle school program to pick. If he is in the happy position of having to choose between high school programs the test scores would help him decide which program would be a better fit. If for example his Math score was below the median score for accepted students, that might lead us to wonder whether the Math and Science program might be too challenging. It would be good to have that information in the acceptance letter because successful applicants only get a couple of weeks to decide.

No privates have as high level classes as Blair or RMIB

Best case scenario, no. Scores are included in the letter if rejected by a program. No breakdown, just a raw score on each test required and how it compares to the average score of students accepted into the program.

How strange. When ds got into the middle school magnets he received his test scores in both acceptance letters.

PP here: thanks for that information. So an acceptance letter does not have scores but a rejection letter does. That is helpful to know.

DS also at Takoma thought test was easy. Didn't have time to finish a few reading comp questions.

This must be a joke.

FYI, privte school isn't more challenging than RMIB and Blair. I speak from personal experience with my child. The peer group isn't as uniformly high level, for one thing.
