Yes. this is us. We're doing okay. There are good days and not so good days. Thanksgiving was good for the most part his gf stayed with her family and he had Thanksgiving with us without much incident. He really hit it off with my Grandpa who is the rough around the edges, ex- Marine doesn't really like anyone type.
We're trying to keep spirits up, the little ones are pretty excited so I'm hoping it will rub off on him. We at least want to make it a good Christmas for him on our end as much as possible. Which is why I started this thread because I didn't know where to start.
So a very big THANK YOU to all who made suggestions this helps so much you have no idea! Thanks.

OP, have you done stuff like get him a stocking made with his name? Preferably one that matches your other ones? My stepdaughters were oddly touched by this gesture in my house.
Does he like any particular guitarist or rock band? You can get guitar picks online with different bands.

I'm ashamed to admit I've only done a little bit of decorating. We don't have a tree up yet, but we plan on picking one out later today or tomorrow. I usually don't hang stockings until Christmas Eve as away of prepping for Santa's arrival, but I suppose I could change that tradition a bit. His stocking would be different, an old family friend made us a set when our youngest was a baby, but she's no longer with us, so I can't ask her to make another. I was planning on buying a little stocking and hanging it up with the girls as a way of telling them there's a baby on the way, maybe I can get him one that matches the baby's so it won't be too different.
Thanks again for all the ideas.
I like the idea of establishing some kind of personalized gift for each family member. Maybe put up an ornament with each kids photo, or buy a personalized cocoa mug for each kid and the parents. Get the cool ten presents too of course, but this would be sweet. I'm sure you could find something on pinterest!

He is a very well behave kid, and makes good grades. If after I nicely and considerately asked him what he might like for Christmas and he responded with " I don't care. " I would be tempted not to get much, but I don't reward disrespect and bad attitudes.
Wow. That's some Christmas spirit you've got there.

Saying I don't care isn't disrespectful. Obviously your snowflake is spoiled based on the extravagant list of gifts he is receiving or did he "ask for all of them."
