DC declined the admission & went elsewhere that is also rigorous but felt like a better personal fit.

Is DC enjoying the experience or stressed out?

The high school admissions experts on the staff of our pre-k to 8 assure me that yes, even the "big three" take kids with test scores below the 35th percentile each year. They don't advertise it but they do.

When signing up for the ISEE, pick one random out of state school to send the scores. If you like the scores, call ISEE after the fact and pay a small fee ($25 or so) to send the scores to the actual schools to which you are applying. I can't remember how many schools they send them to for the flat fee, but it is maybe 4 or 5.

I would like to know the answer to this also.

How do folks deal with isee scores? You are required to send them to schools. What if you have a good ssat, but then you take the isee and it is bad and goes to the school.

My child is a much stronger English student than math, yet has done better in math on the ISEE than the SSAT. Go figure. Every child is different, take both and see how your child does.

Why?

The ISEE is heavier on the math, while the SSAT is heavier on the verbal. ISEE math is much harder than SSAT math, but the curve is more generous and you don't get penalized for wrong answers.

Any chance DC can get into top privates?

Well, why do you want a child at a top school who isn't at the top?
Or do you think the scores don't represent your child?

Please. Not all kids at "top schools" are "top kids." See the other threads about middling scores.

For entering high school they should be. I know that the primary years are very laid back and play oriented as I still have a child in upper primary.
However, if you are not already in, you better be top otherwise I don't see how these school can claim/defend their reputation of being top.
