My kids are making a roasted veggie dish. I bought a pie. My partner is in charge of booze.

I'm making the mashed potatoes, cheese ball with crackers, cranberry sauce pumpkin bars and salad.

My salad has arugula, roasted beets, pears, walnuts and blue cheese.

I'm making the soup (potato leek), sweet potato casserole, and the salad (self-explanatory). I also chose the wines and the gnoshes for cocktail hour (cheese, crackers, grapes). My husband - who's a better cook than I - is doing the heavy lifting: turkey, stuffing, mac and cheese. Friend is bringing desserts and a cabbage dish. Whew!

Now I have to start cleaning!!

Also, try something with blue cheese, cranberries, and pecans. Very fall.

Mindy Fox also has a cookbook called "Salads: Beyond the Bowl," that has some unusual salads.

My DS calls a salad I make with spinach, blue cheese, pears, dried cranberries, and walnuts the "best salad ever."

Bacon and cheese make anything better.

But I'd do the spinach, goat cheese, dried cranberries and a diced pears to keep it a bit lighter. It'll be sweet and creamy and light tasting and DELISH. I like having a good salad at the table.

I am doing pies, apps and hosting. I set the table up last night. I did not iron my tablecloth because I am lazy, but I did spritz it with water and run it in a hot dryer for 10 minutes which seems to have done the trick.

My DH is doing the turkey and the stuffing.

My in laws will bring everything else, which is helpful but also annoying (since I was given no choice in that). I am trying to concentrate on the helpful aspect!

Oh and I am supplying booze. Though I also asked several other people to bring wine, so hopefully we have plenty. I'm gonna need it.

I am in charge of pie and appetizers. Making one apple pie, one pumpkin pie, cheese straws, and peel and eat shrimp.

turkey, gravy, stuffing, roasted carrots, cranberry sauce (open can), green salad, baked sweet potato, squash casserole, something with a beet

Others are brining bean casserole, corn spoon bread, apple pie, pumpkin pie, chocolate cake

rolls from WF and olives

Why did you need to iron? We always just fold the tablecloths and cloth napkins neatly in the closet so it's no problem to unfold and put out. I've never ironed.

Uuuuum, most linens should be ironed.

Because my mother died a few months ago, I inherited linens and some of those linens needed to be ironed. Because she was not perfect and neither am I.

NP here and I'm so sorry about your mother. I hope seeing the linens on the table brings back good memories.

I also just ironed the linens (inherited from my MIL). The table cloth needed to be ironed because it came out of the dryer extremely wrinkled. I have no closet to put the linens into; they get shoved into a drawer where they get even more wrinkled than they are when they come out of the dryer.

But anyhow, dear industrious PP, I also made the pie crust on Sunday, dried the bread for stuffing and cooked the cranberry sauce today, and am making the pies and cutting up veggies tomorrow. So looks like we're on the same schedule.
