Nothing is ever done on those days. I actually would be more impressed if they gave quizzes or did work that was meaningful on that half day, it's usually just a free day, so why would parents not treat it as such??
I've posted before. Our principal will not allow us to do anything except textbook work on the half day Wed before Thanksgiving break. I'd love to give a quiz if the timing was appropriate (for example, end of teaching one concept, going to start a new one Monday). I looked at the list of students marked sick today who I know are going to the beach here in the U.S. or the Caribbean. Just be honest, parents. Your kids told me last week that they wouldn't here.
