Most positions at my agency are only open to internal candidates. The veterans often don't possess the needed skills, despite what their resumes and online degrees may say.

We also hired several rounds of attorneys at mine-- and I'm hearing more to come. But we've been slammed with retirements this year. Wanna bet we're the same agency.

Anonymous wrote:Vet preference blocks most offices from hiring anyone outside the government. Some use the merit promotion list to get around it, but that means only internal applicants have a chance.
