My sister works in graduate admissions at a university int he DC area. She said the number of prospective students who arrive at info sessions with their parents in tow is staggering. For graduate school!

if he goes to harvard he gets to have the harvard.edu email address that he can keep for the rest of his life. is it just me, or are the only people you know who are using their college/grad school email addresses 10-20 years later people who went to harvard?

Hello 8:14 -- OP's son is applying to a specific graduate school program - read the prior posts. Undergrad is irrelevant to OPs question.

I honestly think Georgetown is probably better. Harvard has the name, but the undergraduate education there is nothing to write home about.

What's wrong with James Madison University? Don't think anyone is comparing it to Georgetown or Harvard, but it's a great school.

DH is in intel. He says both programs are good. It might be easier to do internships from Georgetown, being in the area. Also, more profs at Gtown would have connections to the intel community.
