If you truly don't believe her, then try asking the interested woman vague small talk like questions. "Any exciting plans this weekend?" "Are you traveling for Thanksgiving", to see if she answers with any information - "Yes - I am taking my child to a birthday party" or "we are going to go see my inlaws, etc."

But again - I don't understand why your friend would lie about something like that.
