OP, I'll be the odd one out here. She's your sister, it was her birthday, why didn't you call her instead of texting? Reading into the text she replied with can lead to many facets. I think speaking with and hearing her voice would have given you a better sense to pull from.

Anyhow, since my brother got married, he's drifted from our family as well. Where as he and I were always very very close, we no longer share long conversations about what's happening in our lives. I've accepted that I see him maybe 3-4 times a year. He lives an hour away. He does a lot with my SIL's family and has become best friends with her brother which stings a little for me, as I would like him to have a better connection with my DH but have accepted they are not similar at all, but neither are he and my SIL's brother, but she pushed the relationship. I know because she told me she wanted her brother to have a good friend in her husband.
