OP, I think your choice is perfect. Both the name, Philip, and the special significance. For a middle name, perhaps you could choose your maiden name? Or the maiden name of your mother. I think a surname could work well with Philip.

I like Philip Rhys.

It's a great name, OP. One of my good friends from h.s. was a Philip--a kind, smart, wonderful human being.

I'm into the meaning of middle names, so if you don't have a person in your family to name for, I'd name for a person you admire, or a name with a meaning that resonates.

I had no family male options for a variety of odd reasons, mostly that I have a very female heavy family, and that all the last names in our family are now trendy girls names, but I considered names that had a story that resonated for me (e.g. Isaac since my son was adopted after a long infertility journey, and the name Isaac was first given because it means laughter and Sarah laughed when she found out she was finally expecting). Names of people I admire (e.g Ailey, since I'm a big fan of the dancer Alvin Ailey, Carson for Rachel Carson). I ended up with a name where I loved the meaning.

Is there a name like that you could use?
