+1 million. No one would be excited about my husband's job but he loves it and it pays (half) the bills. We work in the same field.

My spouse does something that matters deeply to him and that serves our community. He feels good about it, he models for our daughter that a life can be committed to service, and the work is complicated enough to keep him intellectually engaged. I think it's cool that he used his law degree to help kids instead of defend corporations. That's consistent with the other things I like about him.

I could fall in love with a cable installer (though I wouldn't enjoy being given a six-hour window for dates) but I do believe that what my husband does is part of who he is.

DH has a super nerdy job. It's cool because it shows how smart he is and it's respectable, pays well enough, and it makes him happy. When the kids were little, they had no concept of what he does for a living. Oldest dd told people he was a firefighter because she wished he had a cool job.

Yes. My husband "catches predators" and I am attracted to him because he gave up a job in finance to make a difference in the world.

Not at all. I like that overall he likes his job since it means he's happy, but "cool" is not something I've ever thought about in terms of DH's job (or my own job for that matter).

My ex had a "cool job," which was also super demanding, unstable, and frequently changing.

No, I don't care if my husband has a cool job, mostly because I'm not in seventh grade and don't care about being cool. I care about being productive, working to live, and feeling like my job lines up close enough with my morals (not working for a tobacco company, or Michael Vick, for example). My husband feels the same.

I care more that he has a high-paying job.
