The Mirena changed my life so dramatically for the better that I affectionately refer to it as my best friend. After insertion (which wasn't that big of a deal), it took about six months for my body to adjust. During that time, I had frequent spotting. Then, miraculously, my periods ceased almost entirely. Most importantly, though, I haven't taken pain meds for cramps since the Mirena was inserted. It was truly life-altering for me, with no negative side effects.
That is so great to hear! Of the women I've polled, the only side effects I've heard about have been physical--spotting or erratic periods, some cramping, etc. These I can handle. What I'm concerned about are emotional side effects, or bloating. So far, I haven't heard anyone talk about these in relation to Mirena, which is reassuring.
