So dad, being sane, lets mom have the final say on these absurd non-issues.
Whoa! Tone it down. Get a grip. It's only candy, and it's none of your business anyway.

Unfortunately, my uncle's mother passed away after giving birth to him so he never really met her. He was raised by his mother's brother.
