But it is put in the feed. That way they chicken will mature quicker so you have a fully grown chicken in half the regular time. Also they do something to the feed to allow the breasts to get bigger than normal because that is the most popular part. There have been several documentaries on this, like Forks Before Knives, etc. Chickens are treated horribly in the average chicken farm, most getting crazy feed and never ever seeing the sun or being allowed to move around.

Giant and Safeway have two-for sales every so often. I buy two chickens when they're on sale and cook them at the same time in my gas grill. I use one right away for dinner plus we have leftovers for a day or so, depending on the size of the chicken. I remove all the meat from the other one and freeze it, so I have cooked chicken all ready for recipes when I need it. Then, I take both chicken carcasses and make stock and freeze that two. Much more economical than any of the above choices.

Me too. I don't know how any parent can feed their children a chicken from Costco! So irresponsible IMO.
