Wrong. Because I work in an open office, I understand how minor it is.

Betting that all you guys who think this is minor don't work in open offices.

I'm so glad someone brought this up. My co-worker wear large dangly earrings and they are really distracting when she sits by the fan and they get blown and jingle a little.
Can I ask her to change seats? Move the fan? Only wear studs during the summer months?

well-made men's shoes make noise, too. i get that a lot of dc men wear rubber-soled shoes to the office (ew), but if a guy is wearing pricey shoes, they're noisy. all men should wear merrells to work. end all noise!

Yup, I'm open to banning them all.

I think everyone that is saying no big deal has never experienced this before.

Not much you can do, but definitely annoying.

I had a colleague like this - so loud! Clanged all day as she typed. Totally annoying.

I hope your next office mate farts that hard boiled egg smell.

Same annoying thing in my office. Not sure what you can do though without looking really petty. I think trying to move locations sounds like a good idea.

Does Larla make it rain at work?

Then she can wear those charm bracelets all she damn well wants.

I think OP does have a case. It's like if a coworker was constantly clipping their nails or playing a radio.

I would laugh her out of my office if OP came to me with this crap. There really are more important things to report than this.

Sounds petty to be honest. But perhaps if there is space I'd ask my supervisor to be moved to another location.

Why on Earth don't you just tell her the noise is distracting, and would she consider using a bigger mouse pad or something to muffle the sound?

If she says no, then fine, but at least you asked.

It's right up there with people who pop their gum and snort loudly to clear their throats. These noises are as annoying as nails on a chalkboard but you cannot expect or demand and silent or nearly silent workplace. Either learn to live with it or wear headphones.
