Subject: TV size question
I would exchange it. I really don't like big TVs. We have a 37" that's too small for our current house (but was perfect in a condo), but a 55" is huge. Kinda wish my TV would hurry up an die before Christmas.

Mounting has its own issues such as needing additional outlet pulled. You'll definitely need an AC + HDMI and the Ethernet would depend on your TV model.
In terms of 4k resolution, keep in mind that there is very little 4k content at the moment and when 4k content gains mass adoption, it'll be time to upgrade the TV. I'd honestly just get a 1080p and wait a few years for the 4k TVs to mature.
In terms of room aesthetics, it really depends on how open the space is and whether it's a shared space that is used for other activities. Additionally, you need to consider the location of the AV equipment (receiver, cable box etc) and how it would match a TV that's flush. Oh and not to complicate it even further, if you have speakers, how would they match the flush TV. These are all considerations you need to have in terms of proper design (I won't even get into acoustics).
