I think so. My 3 yr old granddaughter just sized up to a size 4.

Month sizes accommodate diapers
T accommodate wider thighs, baby pudge on tummy, etc
Plain sizes are a little longer and slimmer

My granddaughter is 3 years old and size 4. Should I get her size 4t or 5t to fit her better.

Sizing depends on the brand and is meant as guidance.

The size your kid wears depends on the size of your kid.

4 is larger than 4T

Check the size guide in carters:
https://www.carters.com/sc_carters_tabs.html?tab=sc_carters_toddler#

4T,
39-41.5"
34-37.5 lb

4
40-42.5"
34-38.5 lb

As you see 4 is slightly larger than 4t.

What is the difference between a 4-5 and an xs4-5?

In my experience, 4 or XS is a size larger than 4T, but it really depends on the brand.

It differs by brand. Read the size charts - it's not hard.

Agree that 4 is bigger than 4t. When my skinny son wears 4T shirt, it is longer on the sleeves but fit okay. When he wears size 4, it is much more longer on the sleeves & much more wider in width. He looks funny that it does not fit at all. To me, size 4 is more like 5T, and it is good for not skinny kid (since it has a lot of room for width).

24 months is 18-24 months.
