That is the real question. Look up the church. For some churches, a movie night is just that. There might be a prayer at some point, but no biggie.

For other churches, any event is an opportunity to evangelize. I would definitely have a conversation with your kid about that if it is that kind of church. I would be iffy about sending my kid to a church where someone is likely to ask her to give her heart to Jesus and/or that she is going to hell.

As a flaming liberal whose kid invites his friends to go to youth group events at our church (they're just social, no overt praying), I suggest you examine your assumptions.

Not at a movie AT the church...but church goers aren't necessarily saints all the time either. So, yeah, you still have to keep an eye on those kiddos.

Yes. I would let my teen go to an activity at a friend's church. I would probably check out the church website and I would want to meet the parents first but at that age they are ready to make their own friends. I attended a friend's church group activities when I was a teen. It was fun.

OP, there is no Church of Kentucky. Which church (what denomination, what kind of church) is having the movie night your daughter has been invited to? And what kinds of conversations have you had with your daughter about your and her father's feelings and beliefs about religion(s)?

I go to a hippy dippy liberal church and we have movie nights where people often bring friends. It's a nice free night. No religion needed.

Do you pray at any point during movie night? Does Jesus get brought up at any time during movie night? If the answer to either of those is "yes" then I would not let my kid go.
