Yikes. Seriously, OP? Just flip it over, spray the whole thing with bleach spray, let it sit for a while. Then scrub down both sides and rinse. Good as new. Ten minute investment of time.

Good tip on the washing machine, too. I suppose from now on I'll pull it up each time, too. I normally would remove it to wash underneath, but we recently started getting house cleaning done 2x a month so I haven't been the one cleaning the tub.

Your house cleaner should have been removing it when she cleaned the tub. Ours did and showed us it had gotten gross in the couple of weeks since we’d had it. After that we started hanging it to dry after every use.

You haven't cleaned or looked under there in years? Nasty

Just clean it with bleach.

When we used a mat for our kids, we pulled it up every night so it wouldn’t mildew.

If someone has that believe I think it is time for THEM to meet Jesus. Or his child Lucy

Take it up everytime and rinse it off. Then hang it off the side of the tub to dry. When you clean the tub, clean the mat.

Also, littlest kid is 2.5, so do I even need one of these things anymore?

I take it up every time it is used and it never gets gross and they last for year's. This is cleanliness 101.

NP. Years, not year's. This is grammar 101. I guess everyone is ignorant about something.

...And the narcissist have arrived. Sorry op. I can’t believe how rude some people can be. Posting to a thread that they can’t believe others have posted to.

I love it when people say exactly what I'm thinking. Perfect answer.

I'm not sure which is stranger, this person asking such dumb question or the amount of people actually answering her! How in the world do you make important decisions on your own?

I use a non slip mat because my tub feels slippery. I clean the mat with tub cleaner but often wonder if I should replace it too?

I have 4 year old twins. I also take i up every time it is used. I turn it over so that the suction cups are facing up and drape it over the edge of the bathtub. I put it back down just before I turn on the water. Actually we make a game of it. I put it down, we all get in the tub (it's a big soaker tub in our master bath) and we walk around the edge singing ring around the rosie. After we go around twice (they fuss if we only go once) we all get out and I run the water.

We put down the mat when they were 1 and it is still pretty clean. I spray with bathroom cleaner and wipe it down about once every 6 months or so. It still looks like it did when we first used it after 3 years.

OP, it frightens me that you've had a kid and don't realize that a bathmat will get mold if you don't clean it regularly. Astounds me that you just didn't know to clean it right off the bat.

Well aren't you a peach. Some people have never used a bath mat before and therefore don't know what to do with it. I imagine there are many things in the world you've never used before and have no idea how to use or clean, so please shut your trap.
