Ha. I am a DH, and I do very occasionally have truly awful flatulence. It is always related to my diet, and it's never caused by meat or wheat products of any kind (bleached white refined or barely ground whole grain). For me the very worst is caused by sulfur-containing vegetables - in particular slow cooked onions, but also sometimes a lot of garlic will do it too. However this is very very closely followed by the "good vegetables" - legumes mostly - that we're always told we should be eating (I find the arguments for the paleo-diet somewhat more persuasive evolutionarily). Certainly this is largely dependent on your gut flora and how well the digest (and how much they ferment) what's in your stomach. The skins of most legumes are among the worst offenders. If I eliminate veggies in favor of meat, my flatulence goes way down.
I do think the pro-biotics are a great suggestion - get a different colony going in there. However, I also want to ask: is he sitting around with a lot of stool in his lower colon or rectum? Is she shitting regularly and getting it out? Because when I have a lot of flatulence, it's generally a sign I need to go get rid of the stool that is sitting there fermenting, and whatever was causing the gas goes out with the crap.
