Also, if it is from a place like Pottery Barn, Kidkraft etc... maybe contact the company and they can send you/replace the broken parts for cheap or free if you complain enough!

If the wood is broken, you can possible use flat or L brackets to repair it. That may even make it sturdier. Still try to contact the jerk who sold it and ask for at least a partial refund. You should have inspected the bed more carefully, but this stuff happens. Is it a good bed? sounds like alot to pay for something used. We got a high end floor model for a bit more than that in pristine shape with a trundle from a kids retail store. Sorry you got ripped off-it sucks!

Ugh, I thought I was going to open this post up to see that you had gotten bedbugs from the Craig's List bed! Which is absolutely a possibility -- bedbugs can survive in cracks of wooden furniture for a long, long time, and are incredibly difficult and expensive to get rid of. I had a colleague who actually abandoned almost everything except his clothes in an infested apartment.

I am sorry you got ripped off, OP. As others have said, it is unfortunately 100% on you to guard against fraud in Craig's List purchases, which you have learned the hard way. If you do go back to Craig's List or any other venue (Freecycle, yard sales, etc.) just please be very wary of bedbugs in addition to general condition!

Yes I did but didn't reply.

Can you rate sellers on Craigslist like they do on Ebay? I would try contacting her again, then see if there's some re-course through the site.

It may have been an oversight but unfortunately many people are out for what they can get even if they have a lot already.

Is this your first time using the Internet?
