Bookshop is MUCH nicer than IKEA and it holds up better.

Our everyday kitchen has high end Italian boxes and hardware. You can tell the difference up close but the ikea stuff is perfectly fine.

What is a morning kitchen? Why do you have two kitchens?

Our house could be an ikea showroom.
Kitchen, furniture, beds...even a few bedspreads.

Don't buy their appliances, they look off to me, get name brand high quality range, DW, fridge and a wine fridge and you'll be set.

$1.2 when we bought, recently appraised for 1.8 post ikea

Do you really think some high end Italian company is making ikea cabinets. Really?

We looked at ikea. For a certain lacquered style the cabinets looked good. I thought for other styles they sometimes looked (and were) cheap.

Has anyone actually inquired as to where sektion cabinets are manufactured? The info online seems to be largely speculation

I bought a house with new ikea kitchen cabinets, 4 years later they were falling apart.

I use Ikea because I prefer it's style. I don't like iver-corbeled over-glazed kitchens. A matter of preference.

I think that Ikea kitchens are really, really nice. I would not turn my nose up at having one.

I just wonder about the longevity of them is all.

Do people like to use ikea because it's cheap or because they honestly prefer the style and look over other options?

We had 10k to build a kitchen from the subfloor up. We looked at ikea and several other options. Ikea wasn't the cheapest or the nicest looking. We went with real wood cabinets from an RTA company for about $800 less than ikea.

I love how you post on every thread that every product is garbage made in China. The truth is that you have absolutely no idea where Ikea cabinets are made and you are talking out of your ass.

I'm an Ikea fan but I'm so over their kitchens. The limited selection of styles turned out to be a deal breaker for me. I know you can buy third-party doors but then the cost shoots up and it's no longer worth it. Additionally, when I went to Ikea to ask about kitchens, there was a huge line of people waiting to be helped because they needed some part of some cabinet and their contractor was waiting. I suddenly pictured myself having to wait in that crowd on a weekly basis.

A neighbor tipped me off that Lowe's and Home Depot have a large selection of cabinet styles for nearly the same price as Ikea. Sure, a lot of what they sell is far more expensive but I found several styles that I loved and were only about $1000 more than the ugly ones at Ikea. I spent $7k on cabinets and it would have been $6k at Ikea.
