Any others besides Dr. Ahmed in Bethesda? I am also looking for someone in Bethesda who will be willing to follow me through my pregnancy.

Michael Dempsey on Tower Oaks Blvd. Very thorough, very knowledgable, very pleasant.

Any current recs? GW MFA can't see me until September and I don't have that kind of time.

What exactly prompted the ASAP suggestion? Are your labs out of whack? Do you have severe symptoms?
I was with Dr. West before - what PPs said is true. 30 seconds, then a flighty PA is in charge of you. Went to Dr. Hurlock, she is not mainstream, but I am willing to try. Too early to tell if her approach worked.

+1. But do not book any appointments with Dr. West. He'll see you for 30 seconds the rest is done by a flighty PA who clearly is above reading and understanding charts.

Curious if anyone else has any experiences with Dr. Shabina Ahmed? Do you recommend her?

This is 16:57, I just came back from my appt with Dr Hurlock. She spent an hour and a half with me, which was nice. She is definitely a maverick, so I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. She really emphasized treating the symptoms and not just relying on blood tests. In fact, she didn't seem to put a lot of faith in TSH, T3 or T4 values, which makes me nervous but maybe her unorthodox approach is a good thing. She proposed a pretty aggressive plan for upping my medication, which I appreciated as she "got" the ticking clock to get pregnant at my age. As you can see, I'm still processing everything she said. Just wanted to put my opinion out there for those that are still looking for a thyroid specialist.
