Subject: Do all 9 year old girls wear sports "bras" and tanks?
My daughter is 9. Justice clothing is very popular in her elementary school. A lot of the shirts are thin and see thru in certain light. When she wears those shirts she has to wear a tank, cami or sports bra even though she doesn't need it w/ thicker tee shirts.

But many girls (in our school most girls) are not developing at the age of 8 or 9. So, there is no need for this extra coverage. It has nothing to do with age, and everything to do with development.

I know if my daughter was begining to a get noticeable chest she would want to have extra coverage especially when getting changed during P.E and just for general modesty.

From about the age of 7 my dd was wearing cami's Then age 9 moved onto training bras with a little padding when
she started budding which helped with the tenderness then soon out grew them and moved onto real bras. I noticed when she has friends over for sleep overs they all wear bras and she tells me two of her friends have already started having periods! They're only 10.

This exactly. It's not until the girls have to start changing for gym that most girls wear something. Otherwise, just the ones that need it.

DD is 10 an din 5th grade. She occasionally wears a stretch cami because she likes them, and they go with certain outfits, like mesh tops, or under a shirt she wants to leave unbuttoned. But, she has no need of a bra. Some of her friends are developing, and the seem to wear camisoles. But no, most of her friends are not wearing bras or camis regularly, nor are they discussing it as far as I know.
