Oh please. Don't be so salty.

Most straight men wouldn't be staring at a guy's shoes and commenting on his wardrobe. OP is right to be concerned.

If awareness of someone's shoe color makes someone well-informed... then I guess Kim Kardashian is the preeminent scholar in the world.

It was well known that Prada made the previous pope's shoes.

Um, by whom? Carson Kressley?

Who?

OP - Are you male? If so, then your BF is probably gay.

This is very true. Unfortunately, many don't agree because they haven't gotten around much.

Those red shoes were over the top. Even my fashion challenged husband noticed and mentioned them. I don't think that, by itself, should trigger anyone's gaydar.

Your boyfriend is dumb. Most young people are.

Yes. Way to generalize across multiple populations.

The BF probably never saw the shoes - he probably read about the pope's new habits and was making what he thought was a witty joke based on his knowledge. This isn't about staring at someone's feet to be the fashion police.

You're make a LOT of guesses....

It sounds like he was trying to be funny by adopting a stereo-typically gay insight.

I've done the same at times, sarcastically describing something as "fabulous," and I am not gay, nor do I particularly care if people think I am.

It does sound like you two may not be compatible based on your obvious consternation over his willingness to step outside of traditional gender roles to make a joke.
