Happy with my Shark Rotator. It came with a 5year warranty. Im 3 years in and all has been well. I have 2 dogs, one a husky so I vacuum everyday. My only issue is that it can be heavy carrying up and down my TH stairs.

I love my Miele canister too! We have 2 big shedding dogs, kids, etc. and it's like new after 7 years of almost daily use.

Dyson Cinetic Big ball Animal. Our vacuum too broke down last week, it was a Miele. This dyson cleans like no other vacuum can, I highly recommend it ( we have had it for a week only so can't comment on durability).

+1 to the Miele canister. I drive all my vacuums absolutely into the ground because I use it every day – hardwood floors throughout the house, linoleum in kitchen, and a high-end wool rug in the family room. I have three kids, including a long-haired daughter who sheds everywhere, and I can't say enough about the Miele. I use mine daily and I still get 3 months to a bag before it needs replacing.
