Agree. I am senior counsel and don't have anyone who formats my documents or does my envelopes. It takes practically no time to do these things.

I'd be concerned that if OP covers too well that the sr attorney will think the firm can manage "just fine" without the full time paralegal. He seems to be a clueless cheapskate.

Are any of the other attorneys covering this extra work as well or is it falling solely on to you? If it's just you, I would ask your boss if you could delegate some of the tasks to your other colleagues. Or ask your boss to cover some of your usual work while you do paralegal work.

It's not the job I got. The job I got was being an attorney, not cleaning up after my boss.

You work at a tiny firm. If you are employed at a small business, you pitch in and make it work when someone else is off. If you wanted more coddling, then you should have gone Big Law.

Exactly. Guessing that wasn't an option for OP. Boo hoo.

I don't do that type of law.

That's your problem. If you want great support staff, find a practice area in biglaw. It sounds like you probably do something like divorces or PI work.

Work in a small office, cover when someone's out. Not that big a deal. Get over yourself.
