Poor you OP! I was woken up at 2 am the other day by a loud cricket. I could not see it but noticed the noise was coming from a sink that we don’t use much so I ran water down it and it stopped.
I like your DH’s air dryer idea - I would do that again. Could you try putting central heating on for a few hours in early morning when it is colder outside to see if that helps?
