I find this so unfortunate. I spoke once to a mom who's son had 10am lunch. The teacher recommended that they eat a snack during lunch time and she always gave them extra time during snack because she encouraged parent's to send a large peanut free snack like a sandwich or a thermos with pasta. It still sucks, I'm sorry.

My son had the first lunch at 10:00 last year in kindergarten. It actually wasn't so bad.

This year, he is in first grade and complained lunch was so late. Not sure what time it is but certainly not 10.

I think the problem with the in class lunch is then teacher's don't get any break. Yes, they could eat lunch at their desks while they watched the kids, but I don't think that's fair. It would be expensive to hire someone to watch each classroom during lunch.

I don't think OP was complaining it wasn't exactly noon. It's 2 hours before noon, big difference.

Last year, DC's class had lunch at 10:20. She ate breakfast at home around 8 and was not hungry at 10:20. She would buy lunch but then throw most of it out. On days I packed her lunch, most of it would come back home untouched. When I asked her why she didn't eat her food during the day because she told she was hungry around 1 pm., she said there wasn't an opportunity to eat other than a quick snack in the afternoon. Also DC doesn't like to be rushed at mealtime. This was also a problem. Thank goodness, SACC serves snacks and they would let her back a second helping of snack if she wanted.

I went to school overseas and in our school, teachers went to different classes instead of rushing children to various classes except for PE, art and music. Seemed to work very smoothly.

One year my kid's school started at 9:10, lunch at 10:15, out at 3:55 and bus got home at 4:40.

The teachers were great about allowing the kids to snack as needed throughout the afternoon.

My kid ate a light snack for breakfast, had brunch at 10:15, and ate a huge lunch type snack at lunch time.

Days with afterschool activities were tough. It must have been harder for sac kids.
Craziness. I felt sorry for the teachers too as they were in the same boat.
