I became one of those dorky people at work who uses Getting Things Done. It doesn't cure a person's perfectionism but for me it made a difference.

It's that an app or something?

It's a book and associated products and seminars. I took a seminar 4-5 years ago that I got my company to pay for. When I use the system I feel so productive, but I tend to fall off the wagon after a few weeks/months. Probably time to dust off my seminar materials and try again.

It took me quite a few years and now I have attained this same, disengaged state.

I feel better having a "To Do" list and then prioritizing. One thing I've gradually learned is that there are deadlines that I feel are urgent because they are urgent for my boss, deadlines I feel are urgent because someone other than my boss keeps harassing me, and deadlines that are important to meet because missing them creates more work. From there I prioritize.
