The Washington Post had named Giovanni Pena as their "Teacher of the Year" chosen above all others.

It'll be interesting to see what WaPo will report today about yesterday's slap-on-the-wrist sentencing, if anything.

Putting him on probation for ten years is actually the right move because the minute he violates (and he will) he is back in for ten. Realized this when my first boyfriend was killed by a drunk driver and initial sentence was minimal jail time but extensive probation......... the drunk driver is back in jail essentially for longer than he could have been sentenced to originally......

PS with pedophiles there is NEVER only one victim.............

Pena would go on beach vacations with the boy and his parents.

Y'all think he used that time scheming the plan for the classroom assault when school started back?

Me thinks he did more than that at the beach. But no proof, so he's off the hook for the worst, imo.

Scum. Oh yeah, that was part of his subject material to include in his photographic pursuits, not to mention his glowing body parts to share with his Oyster student.

I may not "sound" bad, but the impacts on the child are tremendous.

And jail time for anyone who commits crimes against children is no walk in the park.

Indeed. It's almost like there is a whole system devoted to figuring this stuff out and judging what is the right balance.

The armchair police officers, prosecutors, and judges (not to mention school principals and teachers) amuse me to no end.
